Why consolidate deliveries?
Combining the delivery of multiple items from your warehouse not only ensures professional packaging but also helps save on international shipping costs compared to sending separate shipments.
Example: Using GD-EMS for Shipping to the United States
Assume the initial weight bracket is 500g, costing $30, with each additional 500g priced at $10, plus a handling fee of $1 per parcel.
Scenario:
You have three items weighing 700g, 1100g, and 1600g respectively.
- Individual Shipping Costs:
If you opt to ship each parcel individually, the total cost will be $153.- (30 + 10 + 1) + (30 + 102 + 1) + (30 + 103 + 1) = $153
- Combined Shipping Costs:
If you choose to combine the shipments, the total shipping fee will be only $91.- Combined weight: 700g + 1100g + 1600g = 3400g
- Shipping fee: 30 + 10*6 + 1 = $91
By combining shipments, you save on the cost of 2 initial weight brackets and 2 handling fees, resulting in a direct saving of $62.
- $153 – $91 = $62
Tips:
The weight and quantity of a parcel are key factors that various countries use to determine whether it’s a personal or commercial shipment. Parcels weighing over 10kg are more likely to be classified as commercial. Additionally, a large quantity of the same item can also trigger commercial classification. Therefore, we recommend considering both the weight and the number of items when opting to combine multiple items for shipping.
